A bit of nature + 1 basketball hoop

Yesterday after my adventures in cleaning I found solitude while taking out the garbage. This is what I saw as I was opening my garbage can lid, a beautiful sunset. The contrast of the colors was so vivid. The sky had such bright pinks, blues, and yellows and everywhere else was white with fresh snow (a lot of fresh snow) I thought it was pretty special so I had to take a picture and I decided to share. It could have been a pretty neat picture if it wasn't for that stupid basketball hoop, oh well what can you do. Have you taken time to ponder the world around you today? Me neither I have not had a chance to take out the trash.

look at their innocent faces

To say that Paige's and Drew's room is a mess is a complete understatement. After the holidays there is always a deep clean, then finding a place for all their new stuff. I am usually pretty good about it but this year I have been a bit of a slacker. To be honest I was avoiding it at all costs but it had gotten so bad it seemed like it might be a safety hazard. Also since there was no where to play in their room all their toys made there way into our family room, another huge mess and yes, also a safety hazard. So yesterday I buckled down and finally cleaned the babies room.

Amazing what 2 cute little kids can do.

I was cleaning, not exaggerating, for over 4 hours. I know I should of gotten to it sooner and been better about keeping it clean in the first place but, I was not, and now I have learned my lesson and will never let it happen again (yea right, I need a maid). Now I just have to clean up the messes they made in the rest of the house while I was trapped in their room. So that was my day yesterday, how was yours?

Snow!

Yes Paige, momma feels the same way. This is a picture from last month but it pretty much describes how I am feeling today. We have got so much snow. This past weekend added another 2ft. I can't wait for flip flop weather!

Promised Christmas Photos

I know its been over a month since Christmas but I said that I would post some pictures so better late than never. Sweet cousins at the other Johnson family Christmas party Christmas Eve

Drew and Brady being silly

Drew and Brady in a double white wash. Before you call child services Drew is laughing and asked if dad could do it again.

My cute family sportin' their new Christmas pj's

Haylie and her favorite present, a stereo.

Drew and Dad were buds all Christmas day. Justin helped open all of Drews toys which is a treat for him because he has spent every other Christmas opening girl toys or baby toys.

Paige claiming her Dora Doll house. After we opened this for some reason the first thing she did was climb on top of it and sit down. Silly girl.

Our family got a Wii and with it Rock Band. We all love it and have a blast playing together. Morgan was so excited and did one of her famous poses. We had an awesome Christmas this year maybe next year I can post sooner.

Things to finish list

I have to make a quick appology to The Mystic Order of the Royal Polka Dots Secret Society because, I am going to toot my own horn. It does not happen very often so I'm sure I will be forgiven for taking the opportunity right now. Some of my faithful readers will remember a previous post of mine complaining about having no drive. In lots of ways I am still working on achieving drive, but in one way I have excelled and am very excited about it. I had a list of unfinished projects that had sat in 2-3 (depending on the project) different craft rooms (meaning that in the last few years I am living in my 3rd house and the projects have moved from place to place unfinished) waiting to be completed. So I took the advice of Katie when she said "JUST DO IT" (I think I have heard that some where else) and started finishing the sewing projects. It started with Christmas projects when I made 5 quilted table toppers for gifts. Those were not on my list of things to complete they were in addition to what I wanted to get done because they were Christmas they took first priority. After I finished those I decided that I should just pull out my other stuff and get working. Here is where I toot my own horn- I finished a rag quilt that I bought for Paige before she was born, I finished binding a July table topper from last July, I finished peicing an Aug, Sept, and 2 Oct table toppers that are waiting to be taken to be quilted (I dont do that on my own) then I put together another quilt that I had everything cut out and it needed to be sewn together, I finished sewing a queen size quilt that I started making Haylie to match her bedroom in our last house, and had enough left over material to cut, piece and sew another queen size quilt, all three ready to be taken to the quilter as well. The only sewing (I have other craft projects) project that I need to finish now is a jean quilt that I tie. I also know that binding all those projects when I get them back will take some time but I am very excited about what I have done so far. As an added bonus I noticed that I have emptied a few shelves in my craftroom freeing up some space. 'Just doing it' is a great way to get things done, I love being able to cross stuff off my lists. So please excuse my 'tooting' but I am very excited!
